10th September -Nick Gifford Stable Tour

A whistle stop tour of the yard for this current season.

Ballybach  (2004)  Bay gelding – by  Bach – Ex  Croom River (Ire)

Missed last season due to an injury.  Will find it a bit tough this season as no longer can run as a novice over fences having won his only start the previous January.  We may well start him off initially back over hurdles.

Cariflora  (2007 )Bay Mare by  Alflora – Ex Oso Special

Cariflora is full sister to Specialagent Alfie she has been  leased for this season to the Nick Gifford Racing Club.  She is a very good looking mare who will start off in bumpers.

Christopher Wren–   (2007) Chestnut Gelding- by  D’widlcat (USA) Ex-  Ashley’s Coy (USA)

He won two hurdle races last season, then was a bit disappointing.  He is a good ground horses who will go novice chasing this season.  He has schooled well in Ireland and here.

Dollar Bill (2009) Chestnut Gelding – by    Medicean -Ex-  Jardin

3yr old maiden of the flat.  Owned by Mrs C. Kyle.  Had a pleasing first run at Fontwell, travelled well just got a bit tired.  We will drop back to two miles and try and win a juvenile hurdle with him this season.

Fairy Rath (IRE) ( 2006) Chestnut Gelding-  by Accordian- Ex Killoughey Fairy

Having had a satisfactory season over hurdles, he will go novice chasing this season.  A strong galloping sort who will prefer the larger tracks.  Very exciting recruit for this season.

General Kutuzov (IRE) (2004) Bay Gelding-by Moscow Society(USA)   Ex- 0Bonnie Thynes (IRE)

The General as we call him will be aimed at long distance chases around the smoother tracks.  Big fields don’t seem to suit him so placing him may be tricky.  He clearly has ability but can be frustrating.

A consistent and tough battler who finally got managed to win a competitive handicap hurdle at the start of this season.  A striking little horse who will go novice chasing this season and should be winning around the smaller tracks.

Latin America     (2005)  Bay Gelding – by Saddlers Wells (USA)- Ex  la Pitte (USA)

Missed last season due to injury.  Still a novice over hurdles, but the plan will be to go novice chasing with cut in the ground.  A much stronger horse now who should be competitive around the smaller tracks.

A home-bred mare who had two runs for experience in bumpers last season.  She will go novice hurdling around the smaller tracks on soft ground.

On Trend  (IRE)  (2006)  Bay Gelding – by Jammaal-Ex  Comrun

Won almost too well at Towcester in November and the handicap tool a dim view.  Minor injury has seen him of the track since.  An ultra tough and consistent horse who will want 2.5-3 miles this winter.

Oscar Papa ( 2005) Chestnut Gelding – by Presenting Ex – Oso Special

Disappointing last season versus the form we had seen previously.  He has had a long summer break and hopefully he can pick up the winning thread soon.  Lots of potential.

Parigino ( 2008) Bay Gelding – by  Panis- Ex  Loretta Gianni

Ex flat horse bought from France who has taken time to find his feet.  We have give him a long break and he may well run on the flat before going on to hurdles.

He works well at home and we hope to see this back on the track this season.

Tullamore Dew (IRE) – (2002) Chestnut Gelding-by  Pistolet Bleu -Ex  Heather Point

Very unlucky not to win a valuable chase at Ascot last season.  He will be aimed at veteran chases this season from 2mile6-3 mile 2.  He so deserves to win a nice race.  He is such a tough performer.

Utopian    – ( 2008) Chestnut Gelding- by Kapgarde- Ex  Djeti

Still on the weak side, so he will not be having a busy campaign this season.  Very impressive in winning his bumper at Fontwell last season.  Plan to go novice hurdling this season, very exciting prospect.
